City of art and history

Vannes was founded by the Romans in 56 B.C., after their victory over the Veneti. Here you can explore the city’s medieval past with the little streets and half-timbered houses in the old town. Walk through the Porte Saint-Pierre and you will come face to face with all of Vannes and his wife during your walk, and admire the architecture of the Saint-Peter’s Cathedral.

Visit Vannes and the environs at your own pace – here is a selection of sights to see.

At the heart of the Gulf of Morbihan

The Gulf is a member of the select club of The Most Beautiful Bays in the World. Stay a while, admire the landscapes and the colour of the water and you will be absolutely convinced. Welcome to our “Mor-Bihan”, our “little sea” in Breton, sheltered from the ocean waves.

There are a large number of boats to take you to visit the islands. You can also stroll around the modern and dynamic port or take a trip to the Conleau peninsula, with a change of scenery guaranteed, between the sea and nature.
